Ordinance 23-002 Decennial Committee
The Illinois State Legislature passed Public Act 102-1088, the “Efficiency Act” which requires units of local government to form a committee to study the issue of “efficiency” once every ten years. State statute requires the fire district to form a committee comprised of the following:
The purpose of the committee is to “study local efficiencies and report recommendations regarding efficiencies and increased accountability to the county board in which the governmental unit is located.” The committee is required to “study the governmental units governing statutes, ordinances, rules, procedures, powers, jurisdiction, shared services, intergovernmental agreements, and interrelationships with other governmental units and the State.”
The committee is mandated to summarize its work and findings in a written report which includes recommendations in respect to increased accountability and efficiency. The committee is required to be produced to the county board no later then eighteen (18) months after the committee is first formed of by December 10th 2024.
- All board members
- Two (2) residents of the fire district as appointed by the Board President with the advice and consent of the remaining trustees
- The Fire Chief
- Any other members appointed by the Board President as he/she deems appropriate.
