The District's mission is to minimize the impact of life safety or property threats resulting from fire, emergency medical, or other hazardous conditions. These perils may include structure fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous conditions, industrial accidents, or specialized rescues. Our goal is to accomplish this mission through progressive personnel training, public education, comprehensive code enforcement, and utilizing our personnel, vehicles, and equipment at a constant state of readiness. |
Welcome from the Fire Chief
On behalf of everyone at the South Elgin & Countryside Fire Protection District, let me welcome you to the Fire District’s Web page.
The South Elgin & Countryside FPD is comprised of 57 dedicated, community serving people, who are highly capable and proud of their profession. The South Elgin & Countryside FPD serves more than 26,000 District residents and visitors and has served for nearly 70 years.
South Elgin & Countryside FPD is charged with the responsibility of providing professional and efficient fire suppression,
emergency preparedness, emergency medical services, fire prevention and public education to the Village of South Elgin.
The goal is to provide the highest level of service in the most efficient manner possible; to constantly safeguard and preserve life
and property against the elements of fire and disaster through effective preparation, training and education; and to respond to
all emergencies in a safe yet swift manner with sufficient resources to address the situation.
Within this outstanding team, the fire district is a key member in providing community safety. We accept and embrace this challenge with vigor and commitment. As the world evolves and our District grows and matures, our mission has also evolved to one that is not simply
confined to “traditional” fire services. Therefore, our mission statement reflects a corresponding need for our fire department to think
and operate in a more encompassing manner.
Once again, welcome to our web page, and please contact us if you have any additional questions
or have suggestions to improve our services to you.
Thank you,
Steven Wascher

South Elgin Fire District is located in Kane and parts of DuPage Counties, approximately 44 miles northwest of downtown Chicago.
Our District encompasses 24 square miles and serves an estimated population of 26,000. The District provides service to the residents of
South Elgin and also parts of Elgin, Bartlett, Pingree Grove, Campton Hills, and unincorporated St. Charles.
South Elgin Fire District currently operates out of three fire stations located uniformly within the District to help us serve our residents better!
We moved into our newly built Station 21 in July of 2020. Station 21 houses the administrative offices and is located at 1090 W. Spring Street.
Station 22, built in 2002 is located west of Randall Road at 2055 McDonald Road. The District's Fire Prevention Bureau Office is located at Station 22.
The District was very excited to have added a third station in April of 2020. Station 23, located at 498-A South Elgin Boulevard, operates and implements a jump company; they utilize either an ambulance or fire engine as immediate need dictates.
